Esprit 4 Cylinder Recirculating Dump valve Install Guide

Here we have the first Esprit recirculating dump valve install guide. Fitting takes less than 1 hour.

Parts:-

Recirculating Dump Valve kit from Esprit Performance Shop

Tools:-

13mm spanner

Philips Screwdriver

Craft knife

-------------------------------

1. The first task is to replace the large diameter connector with a silicon T to install the dump valve.

2. To remove the connector, the chargecooler needs to be moved to the left. This is achieved by removing the nuts from the mounting bolts, one at the front left,

and one at the rear,

The nut on the rear mounting faces downwards, so take care. There is also a sensor connection on the chargecooler, which can be easily unplugged to avoid straining the lead. Loosen the clips holding the connecting pipe in place, and lift the chargecooler at the rear off its mounting  and to the left, allowing the connecting pipe to be removed

Attach the dump valve to the silicon T.

Place the new retaining clips into position (opened as wide as they will go) before sliding the T into position. This takes a bit of fiddling but goes on fairly easily. Move the chargecooler back onto its rear mounting. Replace the chargecooler retaining nuts, and tighten the T retaining clips.

Next the vacuum line must be attached to the Dump valve.

The connection is made by inserting a T piece in the existing Vacuum line. I found that my vacuum line was slightly perished, so to avoid any problems replaced the entire line.

This completes the installation for a non re-circulating dump valve. At this point I took the car for a test drive to check the valve was working. It will make a very audible sound when changing gear if all is well.

The re-circulating pipe is plumbed into the crank case breather as it enters the air box. An alternative is to insert a new connection into the air box, but this would make the installation non-reversible.

Start by preparing the T connector.

The outlet from the Dump Valve is 25mm, but the breather line is about 19mm. To overcome the size difference a reducer is required. This is created by cutting a short length of 19mm pipe, about 35mm,  and inserting it onto the T connector. The 25mm pipe is then be slid over this and retained with a clip. A 75mm long piece of 19mm pipe is then attached to connect the T to the airbox.

Disconnect the breather hose from the airbox.

Insert the T piece, and re-attach the existing breather to the T. I found it was not necessary to cut the existing breather hose, it had enough give to take up the extra length introduced by inserting the T.

Do not tighten the clips until the install is complete.

All that is left is to attach the 25mm pipe to the dump valve.

The pipe should be trimmed to length to form a nice run, I found about 450mm to be the optimum length. Attach the pipe to the dump valve, and tighten the breather hose clips.

This concludes the install guide and we hope it is of some use. Feel free to email us your comments. All feedback welcome.
